When my daughter was nine years old, we read the "Little House on the Prairie" books together. In one of the books, "These Happy Golden Years", the families go through an extremely difficult winter, and then spring comes, and everything is green and warm again. It is during that happy springtime that Laura and Almonzo fall in love. It's a beautiful story - one that inspired this song.
