Thanks to those of you I met last weekend at the book signing at Blue Grouse Books in McCall. Steve Stuebner was also there. You can check out his new book at http://stevestuebner.com
It was a beautiful day, and from our table I had a front seat to the 'live music and a fabulous view of the lake.
It was fun meeting so many people who were out enjoying the day. Special thanks to Michele, Rose, and Madi for all your help!

I've just added some pictures from a recent drive from Boise to Sharlie's home, Payette Lake, which is next to McCall, Idaho. These are some of the images that make Idaho home, places and things that have become as much a part of me as the landscape they inhabit.
While I was there I took a drive down Warren Wagon Road, where a fox posed for a picture. She wasn't afraid of me at all. She even yawned and scratched her ear.
The lake was as smooth as glass. I like to imagine that if someone dove into the lake in that moment, when it shines like a mirror of silver, they would end up in an even more magical place.
I continued driving around Payette Lake, taking a few pictures along the way, and stopped at Blue Grouse Books (McCall Drug), where the staff was, as always, helpful and kind. Then I drove home, pausing to take pictures of Rainbow Bridge, the railroad bridge, and the river, which is filled to the brim with freezing water, snow that has melted from the mountaintops. It would be difficult to describe the powerful sound that comes from the rushing water, or the awe it inspires. I also took pictures of Long Valley and the mountains and clouds - it is easy to see why this is called "Big Sky Country."
I never get tired of the drive to McCall. Simply magical.
